Silica Table 1 and Hearing Protection: A Guide for Foremen

What a crew leader or foreman needs to set up before dusty or loud work: using Table 1 with the competent person, the housekeeping rules, respirator program basics, the 85/90 dBA concept, and how to coach the crew. No legal advice; the employer's written programs govern.

You will be able to

  • Plan a task using Table 1 together with the company's competent person.
  • Set up water, vacuum, and housekeeping controls before the crew starts.
  • Know what the respirator program requires before assigning a respirator.
  • Apply a simple hearing protection trigger on the job.
  • Coach the crew without turning the talk into a lecture.
